You must be old enough to vote. You must reside either in North Dakota or in a county that borders
North Dakota that is in a neighboring state that has a reciprocity agreement with North Dakota. You
must fill out and submit a North Dakota notary application. It is also necessary to have a $7500
surety bond. There is a $36 filing fee payable to the Secretary of State. The applicant must then
get a notary seal and affix an impression of the seal to the certificate of authorization and return
it to the Secretary of State's office.
